BOU Annual Conference 2012
University of Leicester, UK
3 – 5 April 2012
This conference aims to:
1) consolidate our understanding of the ecosystem services provided by birds;
2) showcase current research into the importance of birds in ecosystem functioning;
3) explore the cultural services that birds provide; and
4) consider how Government and non-Governmental organisations are engaging with this new approach in policy.
Debating the philosophical and practical problems surrounding the ecosystem services approach will be a key feature of the conference, as well as finding new opportunities for bird conservation.
Most of the programme is by invitation but we do have a small number of slots for which we invite offers. Priority will be given to students. We have 20-min slots available in the following themed sessions: valuing bird ecosystem services, management strategies and trade-offs and integrating ecosystem services and species conservation into policy.
Please send a short abstract of your presentation to the BOU Office by 31 August 2011.
